The Great Valley Bake Off!

May 23, 2024/0 Comments/in General News, Uncategorized/by David Pearce

The Great Valley Bake Off!

On Wednesday the food room was transformed into the famous tent as we hosted our very own The Great Valley Bake Off! Students each had to make a Victoria Sponge cake with minimal support, and as you can see in the photos they all did brilliantly. Mrs Rea was especially impressed with their independent approach and enthusiasm for the task.

A huge thanks to the staff who supported in coming to be the judges. Feedback on all the cakes was brilliant and it was hard to pick a winner. However, Cody managed to win the coveted Star Baker award. The judges were particularly impressed with the height of the sponges and the decoration on top. Well done Cody!

Aladdin Trip

May 17, 2024/0 Comments/in General News, Uncategorized/by David Pearce

Aladdin Trip

A group of students travelled to Milton Keynes to see a wonderful production of Aladdin on Wednesday. Students said their favourite characters were the Genie, Aladdin and Jasmine and everyone was blown away by the incredible flying carpet. We came away with lots of fantastic ideas for our own production. The students were impeccably behaved in a packed theatre and were a credit to themselves and to The Valley School.  Thank you to Ms Crosby for organising the trip and all the staff who were involved in supporting it.

Year 9 and 10 Options Evening

It was wonderful to see such a great turn out for our Key Stage Four Options Evening.  Over sixty parents and carers attended with their children to talk through option choices with staff.

Thank you to all the staff that gave up their time to make the evening such a success.  Ms Heller deserves a special mention for doing such a great job in leading the event and preparing the majority of the materials.

Everything that was available on the evening can be found on our website.

Year 8 May Day Assembly

Year 8 May Day Assembly

The Year 8 worked very hard all week to, planning an amazing May Day assembly to share with the whole school.  Many of the Year 8 students were involved, showing off posters they designed, reading out extracts, or acting in videos they had produced.   There was a school poll that voted Mr Pearce as May Day King, Ms Howarth May Day Queen and Archie the dog May Day Prince.  The picture shows all three feeling very proud of themselves.

The audience were able to participate in an interactive quiz at the end.  An exciting assembly was enjoyed by all!

Ark Farm Visit The Valley School

A fabulous time was had by all on Wednesday when Ark Farm came in to visit. Students got the opportunity to handle a range of animals and speak with farm staff. Some excellent questions were asked by students and the staff from the farm said how impressed they were with our students!
