Kat Foxworthy – Year 10 Learning Partner
This is the beginning of the KS4 journey and formalising of the children’s learning, as well as the opportunity to develop their life-long independence.
Pupils will follow a Core Curriculum that exists of English, Maths, Science and PE. Students take more ownership of their learning by choosing from a range of options that include Design and Technology, Food Technology, I.C.T, Expressive Arts, Health and Social Care or Art and Textiles.
To equip pupils for the future pupils are offered the opportunity to experience real life scenarios of the world of work through engaging in our Enterprise and Learning for Life curriculum.
For more information on individual Subjects please see the Our Work Page
Year 11 is an exciting time for our pupils, when we work hard to ensure each and every one of them is ready to take on their next challenge after The Valley School, whatever that may be.
Year 11s have plenty of opportunities to develop their leadership skills during the year; such as becoming house captains, organising whole school events or helping to run the tuck shop. They act as role models to the younger pupils and play to their strengths to give back to the school community.
Pupils have the opportunity to explore their options for next year such as attending taster days and taking part in the weekly college link with North Herts College. We also work closely with other provisions to find something for everybody.
There are lots of qualifications on offer to pupils and you can find out more about these in each subject under the ‘Our Work’ tab above.
We encourage independence in Year 11 and support pupils to take the steps they need to live a happy and healthy life beyond The Valley School.
