We support pupils who, for many different reasons, are unable to access some or all of their learning in the main classrooms.
We work intensively to raise self-esteem and confidence through a highly individualised programme including enterprise and cookery projects alongside core learning.
We work in conjunction with our sensory room the Den and our Pupil Listener service.
Link Leader: Debbie Hills
The Link also conducts individual assessments which are helpful in all the staff in tailoring the work for these pupils. Irlen coloured filters are used to determine which colour of paper would benefit each pupil best. Spelling and other language tests are done to determine starting points in the curriculum.
The link provides opportunities for individual projects in terms of pupil learning. As the Link person I also provide support to individual teachers and departments, advising on reading books and literacy resources.
Pupils who join us during the school year may spend some time with Mrs Hills in The Link. This allows her to support them to settle well not the school and to ensure that they are appropriately placed.
