Year 11 is an exciting and important stage in our students’ journey at The Valley School. We work hard to ensure every student is well prepared to take on their next challenge, whatever that may be, and leave us confident and ready for the future.
Throughout the year, students have plenty of opportunities to develop their leadership skills—whether as Year 11 Ambassadors, helping to organise whole-school events, or running the tuck shop at break times. They act as positive role models to younger students, using their strengths to give back to the school community.
We also place a strong emphasis on independence, encouraging students to take increasing responsibility for themselves and their learning, while supporting them to take the steps they need to live happy and healthy lives beyond The Valley School.
In Year 11, students follow a broad and balanced Core Curriculum of English, Maths, Science and PE, alongside a range of option subjects. These include Outdoor Learning, Food Technology, ICT, Plumbing, Performing Arts, Health and Social Care, and Art and Textiles—giving students the chance to personalise their learning and pursue their interests as they prepare for the next stage of their education or future pathways.
