Artist Visit

On Thursday 26th February, a local artist, Sally Miles, visited the school to lead a workshop with some of our Year 7 and Year 8 students.  She taught them various techniques using conte crayons.  The students enjoyed the workshop and produced some amazing artwork – some of which you can see below

Annie

The principal cast for our end of year show was announced at the beginning of the week and rehearsals have started! All of years 7, 8 and 9 will have the opportunity to participate in the show if they would like to. We will be learning the songs in Performing Arts lessons, more news to follow soon.

All principals are now able to listen to the songs and find more information about the show on the Annie Kids Team. They have received an email on their school account inviting them to join. They will then be able to download the songs to help them as they are learning their part.

Dr Dolittle

Dr Dolittle

On Tuesday afternoon the whole school was treated to a performance of Dr Dolittle by Image Musical Theatre. Our students enjoyed the different animal puppets, especially the two headed llama, and loved being able to join in with the songs that they had learnt in Performing Arts lessons. There was also the opportunity for some of Performing Arts Club to participate in the performance which was wonderful to see.

Thank you to Happy Days Charity for making this visit possible.

Year 7 English

Year 7 demonstrated their understanding of the characters in our story “Farmer Duck” by performing a puppet show. Through these performances, they retold the key events of the story and showed thoughtful insight into each character’s role, actions, and personality.

Junior Football Tournament

On Thursday, The Valley School hosted and took part in a Junior Football Tournament featuring teams from Brandles, St Lukes, Batchwood, and Pinewood.

In a very competitive field, The Valley School’ teams performed strongly, securing 3rd and 5th place overall.

Despite challenging, wet weather conditions, the boys showed excellent attitude, determination, and teamwork. They should be proud of their efforts and the results they achieved.

Year 8 Science

Year 8 have been learning about space this half term, and particularly The Space Race. This week the students worked together to make and decorate rockets and then we launched them outside. Unfortunately ours didn’t make outer space but we had lots of fun during the process!

October 14, 2025/0 Comments/in General News, Uncategorized/by David Pearce

Year 8 Outdoor Learning

Year 8 have been working hard in their outdoor learning sessions, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the allotment area. They have been learning to identify the difference between weeds and flowers, an important step in maintaining a healthy garden. Using the correct tools, students have been carefully weeding the allotment and preparing the space for new growth. They have also laid down fresh soil, getting the area ready for planting a variety of new flowers and vegetables. Their efforts are helping to create a thriving and sustainable garden space for everyone to enjoy.
