Halloween Fund Raising

November 1, 2023/0 Comments/in General News/by David Pearce

Halloween Fundraising

The Year 11 Duke of Edinburgh group  encouraged staff and students to dress up for Halloween to support our local food bank (Food Shed).  They were extremely pleased with their efforts as the group were able to make a substantial donation of produce.

Herts Arts

November 1, 2023/0 Comments/in General News/by David Pearce

Herts Arts

On the 10th of October I had the privilege of attending the Herts Arts concert which celebrates the creative talents of our young people.

Miami, one of our Year 8 students, performed an amazing solo of the Foo Fighters song, “Times Like These” supported by a group of young people from all across North Hertfordshire, whilst playing the Ukele. In this group were two former Valley School students, Yasmin and Dan.

Miami made us so proud; she performed with confidence and sang beautifully. She should be commended for all her efforts and was an amazing ambassador for the school.  Well done Miami.

Year 10 Assault Course Trip

October 16, 2023/0 Comments/in General News/by David Pearce

Just before we broke up for half term, Year 10 had a fantastic day researching an assault course as part of their Enterprise lessons. It was amazing to see the students’ resilience and courage as they attempted each of the obstacles. They worked as a real team to support each other when things were tricky and didn’t seem to mind getting wet. In fact many of them came back for more…..!

Prizes and Awards 2022-23

On Thursday 16th November we held our Prizes and Awards Afternoon to celebrate the achievements of our young people during the academic year of 2022-2023.

Daniel Sweeney (Centre Back) and Harry Anderson (Right Wing) supported us from Stevenage Football Club, as our guests of honour.

We would also like to extend our thanks to ASHE and MACE who sponsored some of our trophies.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the occasion and we are looking forward to holding the next one in our new build.

We will inform you on how you can access the photos of your child over the next few days.

Year 9 trip To Junction 7 Creatives

October 16, 2023/0 Comments/in General News/by David Pearce

Year 9 Arts Award

Over the last three weeks all of Year 9 have had the opportunity to visit Junction7 Creatives in Stevenage as part of their Arts Award Explore. They had fun looking at all the different styles of art and choosing their favourite and were given the opportunity to create a piece of art of their own.
Thank you to Junction7 for offering our students this opportunity.

Instrumental Lessons

October 13, 2023/0 Comments/in General News/by Steve Telford

Instrumental sessions with our staff from the Hertfordshire Music Service are now in full swing. Year 7 students who requested sessions have been rotating to give everyone the opportunity to participate.

Some students in the older years are forming bands which will perform at our Christmas Performing Arts event in December. Two of our Year 7 students expressed an in interest in learning to play the flute. These sessions have now started, which is fantastic, we look forward to hearing them in the future. Well done Elliott and Helen!
