Immy Competes In National Finals

Congratulations to Immy who took part in the National Schools Trampoline Finals last weekend.  She was leading the pack after the first round but at the end of the competition she finished a very respectable 7th.  Well done for all the training, dedication and hard work that resulted in such a good performance on the day.

Performing Arts Club

Performing Arts Club

Performing Arts Club showed some of what they have been learning in assembly this morning. They performed the song ‘Get Up’ from the show ‘The Witches’ that some of them went to see earlier in the term. Three of our Year 11 leaders choreographed the moves and taught the rest of the students. Here they are in rehearsal. Well done to all involved.

Thank You Mr and Mrs Doolin

The Valley School would like to extend a massive thank you to Mr and Mrs Doolin who have provided two hundred Easter eggs for the school.  They said that they wanted to make sure that every student at The Valley who wanted an Easter egg had one to enjoy over the Easter period.

The Valley Celebrate Science Week

This week we have had a fantastic time celebrating the 30th British Science Week. The students have spent time with our ducklings, carried out investigations involving time and enjoyed an extra special assembly from Year 9.

Year 9 Humanities

March 15, 2024/0 Comments/in General News, Uncategorized/by David Pearce

Year 9 Humanities

In Humanities we have been learning about significant people in history including Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King. Today we were learning about the Suffragettes; in particular Emeline Pankhurst and Emily Davison. The children were shocked at how wild these ladies could be but understood they were passionate about the cause. Here is a picture of some of the girls dressed as suffragettes (excluding the big hats and fancy gowns!)

Year 9 Teal had also been practicing for the science assembly where they made rockets out of balloons and inflated balloons without blowing or pumping them up.

Sky Class Go To The Cinema

On Tuesday 12th March Sky Class headed out for the day. They watched ‘Trolls Band Together’ at Vue Cinema in Bedford, which was a free showing for schools. They then travelled to Baldock Services where students used their reward money to purchase their lunch from McDonalds. Sky class had an amazing time, thoroughly enjoying the film and the food.

World Book Day

March 8, 2024/0 Comments/in General News, Uncategorized/by David Pearce

World Book Day

Students and staff have had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day 2024 today. It has been a delight to see the effort that students have gone to, to promote this year’s theme of ‘Read Your Way’. Throughout the week we have been completing activities such as book decorating and voting for our favourite book as a whole school. All students have received their World Book Day token which they can use to buy one of the chosen books for this year, or for money off an alternative book they would like to purchase.

British Science Week

March 8, 2024/0 Comments/in General News, Uncategorized/by David Pearce

British Science Week

Mrs Wells has put together a full programme of activities for our students to celebrate British Science week next week.  These include a poster competition, spending time with our resident ducklings, outdoor lessons and a Year 9 Science assembly.

This week we have had a ‘quacking’ time watching our ducklings hatch. So far, we have five healthy ducklings and one egg waiting to hatch. All five ducklings are now settling into their new brooder. Our ducklings love company and cuddles, next week we will be handling the ducklings and bathing them for the first time. If anyone would be interested in rehoming our ducklings from next Friday please contact Mrs Wells and she will discuss the process with you.
