Year 11 Parents’ Evening

February 8, 2024/0 Comments/in General News, Uncategorized/by David Pearce

Year 11 Parents’ Evening

Parents evening for year 11 is on Thursday 15th February 2024 from 4-7pm and takes place online via video chat. This is an important evening and provides you with an opportunity to discuss your child’s learning and achievements at The Valley School.

To facilitate the evening the school will be using School Cloud, an online appointment booking system. This allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers and have them confirmed via email.

You have the opportunity to book a maximum of three appointments with different staff members. We strongly recommend booking an appointment with your child’s form tutor and two optional additional appointments with subject teachers that you feel you need to discuss anything else.

Please visit https://valleyschool.schoolcloud.co.uk/ to book your appointments.

Air resistance in Year 7 Science

The students have been discussing air resistance in Science. We looked at how shape affected the friction by folding paper aeroplanes and had great fun testing them out in our playground.

Buying and Selling in Year 10 Maths

During their Year 10 Maths lesson, students have been practising buying and selling things from their ‘mock’ shop.  Lewis showed me how he worked out how much money he had to spend and whether he had received the right amount of change.

Goodbye to Mr Sheridan (Hugh)

February 2, 2024/0 Comments/in General News, Uncategorized/by David Pearce

Goodbye to Mr Sheridan (Hugh)

Hugh started at The Valley on 11th November 1991; essentially before any of our current students and even some of our staff were born.

He has decided to leave us to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.  He has planned to do some D.I.Y and look after his young grandchildren.

We wish him all the best and hope that he visits us often.

Trojan Horse

Year 8 Lime have been learning about the Trojan Horse and have thoroughly enjoyed building their own in class.

The end result was almost as big as some of the children.

It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm, and the creativity of the staff, in bringing the lessons to life.

The Witches at the National Theatre – Wednesday 24 January

January 26, 2024/0 Comments/in General News, Uncategorized/by David Pearce

The Witches

A group of Performing Arts students were lucky enough to travel to London on Wednesday to see a new production of Roald Dahl’s ‘The Witches’ at the National Theatre. We travelled by train and walked along the river Thames to the South Bank Centre. We had amazing seats in the stalls and the students loved the show. “Brilliant”, “amazing”, “fantastic”, “scary” and “not scary” were all used to describe the production! Well done to everyone who attended, you were a wonderful group.
